Otters Den

Located yards from Lancashire's Beacon Fell, in a special landscape protection area, Otters Den provided several complexities from a design and planning perspective. Our approach was to provide chalets of sufficiently exceptional design quality to complement and enhance the character of the area. Simply delivering the mundane would not have provided sufficient justification to warrant an encroachment into such a pristine landscape. Clearly capital investment was a major consideration, however, the higher quality designs allowed the business to offer premium accommodation and deliver a significant return on capital investment.

Eccles Moss Iron Works

The client's ambitions centred on creation of a premium holiday experience, set within a stunning rural location. While the seclusion of the site was the focal point of the business, it created challenges from a planning perspective. To achieve an acceptable balance between modern luxury and rural setting, the chalet designs incorporated a traditional pitched A frame, allowing the incorporation of a mezzanine master bedroom. A signature glazed gable was included to maximise the vistas, with an overhang incorporated to reduce light spill into the surrounding countryside. The overhang also allowed for incorporation of a covered area for a hot tub and seating. The material pallet was also significant, focusing on a high quality traditional exterior including stone, slate and timber and ultra modern interiors. The local authority approved the development that included 7 lodges, citing within their report that the units would enhance design standards within the local area.

Holiday Parks

Over the last 30 years our team has work closely with numerous holiday parks, throughout the UK, to enhance all aspects of their business and tailor our support to suit a diverse range of requirements. The key services we provide include appraisal support during acquisitions, provision of long-term development strategies, licencing and condition advice, and general planning and architectural support. We see ourselves as an extension to the organisations we work for and are driven to facilitate their growth and expansion.

Woodfold Fisheries

Located within an area of outstand natural beauty and with limited developable space available, the design strategy was critical at Woodfold. he rational sought to utilise onsite topography to achieve an architectural form that worked within the landscape. From a visual perspective, building the units into a natural embankment allowed an increase in the number of holiday lets, while ensuring visual impact remained acceptable. Further investment was required to deliver the bespoke designs, however they enabled the maximisation of the site to an extent that simply wouldn't have been feasible using standard caravan/lodge designs
