
Animal Care Sanctuary, Blea Tarn Road, Scotforth
The site has been the home of Animal Care since 1970s who successfully operate from site and have been a registered charity helping animals since 1978.The clients approached GAA for planning and design to create an Veterinary surgery associated with the wider Animal Care facility, including Kennels and catteries.
The Project
This project involved the creation of a 576 sq.m state-of-the-art veterinary facility designed to provide comprehensive care for animals. The building features specialized treatment rooms, hydrotherapy, dental and x-ray facilities, as well as meeting spaces and storage areas. With a focus on functionality and comfort, the design incorporates Timber , approachable façade, large windows for natural light. The mix of timber, composite cladding and aluminium creates a distinctive feature for the users . The facility aims to blend modern medical technology with a calming, welcoming environment, ensuring the highest standards of care for animals and their owners.

The design layout was created to prioritize ease of access, both for the animals and the veterinary staff, ensuring a smooth flow of patients from one area to another. Efficient circulation paths implemented for both human and animal movement, including wide corridors and distinct, clear signage to direct visitors.
Externally, the site features ample parking for both staff and visitors, with accessible spaces conveniently located near the entrance. The surrounding landscape is designed to create a calm, welcoming environment, including areas for outdoor animal exercise and relaxation, contributing to the overall well-being of the animals in care.
